Care instructions for synthetic wigs
- + Gently comb your wig with a wide-tooth comb to remove tangles.
- + Fill basin with COLD water (don’t use hot water as heat may damage the wig).
- + Mix a 10cent piece size of shampoo into the water (use a mild, paraben and sulphate-free shampoo or our recommended product).
- + Immerse your wig and allow it to soak for around 5-10 minutes.
- + Rinse your wig in a fresh basin of cold water to remove shampoo.
- + Rinse again in cold water this time adding a capful of fabric softener to the basin.
- + Place the wig between a folded towel and pat dry. Do NOT squeeze, rub or wring your wig while drying.
- + For long wigs, we recommend spraying hair inside and outside with Wig Conditioner. Do not spray on the knot area as the conditioner may loosen the knots.
- + Gently shake the wig to regain its style. Do NOT brush or comb while wet.
- + Place the wig on a wig stand, over the mouth of a large jar or vase, or over the shower rose, to dry naturally. Don’t use any solid headstand that is wider than 20.5 inches as this will stretch the wig cap.
- + NEVER use a hair dryer or straighteners or any heated tool as heat damages the wig fibres.
- + When your wig is completely dry, it is ready to comb and wear!
Tips to keep your wig looking fabulous
- + Limit washing to a maximum of once every three weeks.
- + Avoid hair spray. Use styling products that are designed for use with synthetic wigs.
- + Remember never to use a hair dryer or straightener. High direct heat will damage your non-heat-friendly synthetic hair. This includes getting too close to a hot oven while cooking.
- + A clothing steamer is a great tool for preventing synthetic fibres from becoming too dry and for training hair into place.
